Happy New Years 2012!

A little early for the New Year but excited all the same!
Trying out my new polishes!

My Sis's nails!
My sister-in-law has been growing her nails for the last 3 weeks just so she can have them painted.

Christmas! 2011

I'm pretty excited about the holidays coming up! It means I get to spend time with my family and paint my nails all x-masy... :-)

I started out with CANDY! I thought these came out cute but it shows I need to work on making straighter lines.  LOL

My sister started off her holiday nail cheer with X-Mas Lights.  I had seen another set of light nails done on a semi transparent white & I had a hard time thinking of some other color to use.  I liked the gold she used.

My sis did a REDO of her X-mas Lights with a red french tip.

but NOT before she painted Snowflakes on Ma...

But they were just too quick for me. I finally finished my Snowflakes...

My Sis's Winter Wonderland

My snowflakes lasted so long, but I finally repainted them.
I just had a hart time deciding what to do so I did a bunch!

But my sister still beat me with her gifts!
She also had a request from a friend to paint hers. :) Considering she did it without a fine tip brush, I think it is an awesome job!

Purple Party

I started out thinking I was going to do a sponge tip, then I saw a really cool checkered design. I tried to paint checkerboard squares using clear tape but I was not patient enough. The polish inder the tape peeled off! So, I gave up on that & went back to what I was going to try in the first place.

Cherry Blossoms

Ma's Nails
My Mom & Sister are on a trip to a model rocket competition. Having some time to sit & 'chilax', my sis painted my ma's nails & her nails. I thought they turned out really awesome!
Sis's Nails

1/24/2012 - We've kinda hit a 'nail block' figurin since we can't come up with any cool idears... lol We don't quite have a holiday to celibrate right now either. :o)
Anyhoo, we still can go back and play with the designs we've already created.

My Sister redid her Cherry Blossom into a diagnal crackle french tip style with blue centers for her flowers. I'm going to have to give this one a try.

Half Polka Nails

I recently purchased a new polish that was a DARK green/blue.  I didn't really have an idea of what I wanted to design but I really like the color. This is what I came up with.  In the end, I still couldn't decide which I liked better.

Silver or Grey?

Fall Nails

Here are some Fall nail designs.

Yes, I make mistakes and polish gets on my cuticles. LOL I just give it time to dry and scrape it off.

I tried a little sponge nail art on the tips to give off the impression of plants and leaves on the ground around my trees.

My sister's nails. I loved the leaves!

What got me started....

My mom, sisters and I had a wounderful opportunity to co-host a baby
shower for one of our dear friends.  The day before the shower,
my sister was going to paint her nails, I wanted mine painted, mom
wanted her toe nails done, Grandma wanted hers to match her
blouse she had just purchased. So, why not! We spent some time getting it done.
We wanted some really coooool ideas so my sister & I looked up
some on Pinterest. These are what we came up with.
Unfortunately, we didn't get a picture of Grandma's nails.
Alternating black & purple with various sized dots.

Black base w/ green zebra.
Red base with black & white plaid.

Halloween!

My sister-in-law had suggested I paint a pumpkin since
Halloween was comming up, thought it was a great idea!
But it just wasn't up to my standards. :(
So I stuck with an orange base with black tips, silver glitter line & a spider's web.
Right after I posed the web on facebook, my cousin
suggested I try candy corn, which my sister tried it out on her thumb.
 They each look really cool!

My Sister painted a friend's nails.

Flutterbys

I liked how my pointer finger nail has the dots
in somewhat of a line, rather all sparatic like the other nails.
When I was painting these, I found it quite hard not to get the black polish
all over my cuticle. Rather than worry while I was painting, I waited until
all the polish was dry. Then I soaked my fingers in warm water for about 5 minutes.
Once they were soaked, the polish on my cuticle scraped right off with either my other
finger nail or a wooden cutitle stick.  I will definately have to try other colors...

Strawberries

I saw a video on youtube with someone using a toothpick for the
seeds of the strawberry but I just couldn't get it to work for me.
I found I could make smaller & cleaner lines if I had a clean
brush to work with so I emptied out one of my polishes,
cleaned it with remover.  Now I keep it filled with polish remover so
the brush doesn't dry out or become crimped.
This way, I can use any color of polish I have by placing a small dot of
polish on scratch paper & I paint from there.

Sunflowers

Found a lot of interesting photos online on nails & I thought I
would try to mimic them.  Not bad for a first try.
This was my very first attempt at anything besides a solid base coat & sticker art.
After this, I realized I needed to buy an embossing tool so that I
could make better dots & practice a lot more...

I loved the way my sister's sunflowers turned out. The different background is better than my grey.

Water Marbles

After having paint on my nails for a year, the quality of my mails went to shit! They were splitting long ways and side ways, breaking deep ...
